COTRAD held a community working party in Marufu village Zaka Central Ward 18. The Community working parties unites people from different political and religious backgrounds by greeting each other, working together and discussing community development issues under one roof. The platform served to equip villagers with social accountability monitoring, peace building, and conflict management and mitigation strategies. The residents of Zaka revealed that, Zaka Rural District Council is failing to ensure infrastructural maintenance and development, therefore major roads and bridges are in a deplorable state which affects service delivery. Hence, villagers resolved to work on gully filling and refurbishment of Chikenen’ene – Chemhondoro road which connects Chongore, Marufu and Madzimure Villages to Jerera Growth Point. The participants raised concern over the lack of health centers in ward 18 as people travels long distances to Musiso and Siyawareva health centers in other wards. The villagers resolved to work together with COTRAD peace committees which includes traditional leaders and elected officials and peace clubs in addressing community challenges.
