Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD) in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) have conducted a Go Register to Vote sporting tournament at Murerekwa School in Zaka Central Constituency on the 6th of January 2018. The massive voter registration campaign serves to encourage young people to register to vote in 2018 general elections and informing the villagers about the BVR extension date in the District. 5 football and 4 netball local teams participated in the Go Register to Vote sporting tournament which was attended by Zaka Assistant District Administrator Mr V Zinhanga, headmen Madzivanyika, 4 village heads (Mr Nhamo, Mr Gwara, Mr Bhumure and Mr Gomba) and Zaka ZEC officials.
COTRAD voter clubs distributed ZEC BVR information material to the participants during the campaign. The ball games have the advantage of mobilizing people from diverse political backgrounds while voter clubs use their circle of friendship to mobilize people in their respective communities. Ball games are used to revive the living and working together which ignited social cohesion and cooperation amongst members of the community.
